Naked Girls Reading with Miss Rose

Rarely does an event’s name so accurately capture its essence as Naked Girls Reading. Started in Chicago in 2009 by Michelle L’amour and Franky Vivid, the show features beautiful naked girls…. reading on stage.  Of the event’s purpose, according to its founders:

“There’s something beautiful, something altogether more intimate, about a woman reading pretty much anything in her, well, altogether. It’s just that simple. So why are we still talking about it? Because people can’t seem to accept its simplicity.”

And Miss Rose of Bravissimo Burlesque, an ingenious performer and creator, brought the feature to Philadelphia. We talk about the growing popularity of Naked Girls Reading (it’s international!), what happens during a show and the appeal of burlesque to a nice, book-smart girl.

The show is Sunday September 23rd at PhilaMOCA at 9 pm.

  1. Saw an evvent of this kind here in Toronto at the Oasis Aqualounge… it was around the pool, & while the girls were pretty enough, they had NO idea how to read aloud in a public space so it was very disappointing (and the texts seemed to be chosen at random rather than either being sexy or else of personal significance–why was one woman reading endlessly from Fahrenheit 451?!?). Oh well. Disappointing.

    • That sounds disappointing! The one in Philly was MUCH better than what you described. If you’re ever able, you might enjoy one of the upcoming ones. Neil Gaiman is the theme of the next show!
