Misogyny and the Super Bowl: they go together like racism and Southern-ness. There may be historical reasons they’re related, but there’s no GOOD reason they still have to still be together.
Melissa Fabello, sex educator and founder of the feminist blog ToughxCookies returns to the show to discuss the powerful social media campaign Not Buying It and its goal to call out sexist tropes, objectification and other harmful images in advertising. Since its creation by Miss Representation, the movement, identified by the twitter hashtag #NotBuyingIt, has involved hundreds of thousands of young feminists around the globe. And specifically, we discuss which of the Super Bowl ads were the biggest offenders and why it matters that we call them out.
