Philadelphia’s burlesque scene has its performers, its promoters, its artisans, its historians and its visionaries. Rarely does one person encapsulate all those features. Annie A Bomb can regale you with tales of theater history, sew you up a pair of bloomers and then slip them off to reveal some seriously adorable butt cheeks.
I chatted with her about her latest project, a sexy ballet take on Percy and Mary Shelley (author of Frankenstein), whose polyamorous, anarchist activities and torrid personal lives were as dramatic as anything scripted. It’s called Free. Think. Love. Frankenstein and you can help bring it to fruition.
Annie’s passions include politics, sociology, gender studies and art, so the conversation heads to random and entertaining places, including a discussion of pop culture representations of burlesque.
