Eric Smith: The Geek’s Guide to Dating

It’s #TBT and time for a vintage podcast. This one originally went up in December of 2013. It’s timely as the subject of this interview has moved on to even more exciting things and the site he co-founded is saying its goodbyes.

I’m totally not sure how Eric Smith, co-founder of Geekadelphia, found time to write his award-winning book, The Geeks Guide to Dating.eric smith

On top of his duties at Philly’s premiere geek site, he’s a busy writer and general wacky creative person with a truly impressive familiarity with geek culture that can only be cultivated by consuming enormous amounts of media. Plus, he’s engaged to an actual human woman… which is part of what qualifies him to expertly guide fellow nerds, geeks and fandom freaks on the delicate art of dating.

We chatted about his book, already named one of the best books of the 2013 by Amazon before it even came out, how science can guide you towards love, Manic Pixie Dream Girls, the #1 locale for affairs in Philadelphia, Catfishing, where to go on a date, moving relationships from online to IRL, who should pay for dinner and managing a relationship with a normal human… I mean, a non-geek. 🙂
