After watching the latest version of A Star is Born in theaters, I was struck by both the amount of makeup I had cried off and also by the sensation that the plot simply would not have worked if the genders of the main characters were switched. In this episode I talk about the many remakes of the film, examine the Willis Test of gender representation, re-investigate the Best Actress Oscar curse and consider a whole lot about our expectations for putting up with bullshit from partners.
