When the word started to spread that the historic Tacony Music Hall in North Philly was going to become the home of a sex-positive private community, there were- predictably- a lot of feels. Newspapers printed the anxious concerns of people nearby and there were fears that- despite being entirely within the law- the club wouldn’t happen at all.
Now the Philly Music Hall has been open for long enough that the drama died down and the nearby residents have come to realize the presence of all these fun kinksters would actually be beneficial to the neighborhood.
But what’s inside? What’s going on in this giant space with its grandma-decor and St Andrews Crosses? In this, the first part of a two-part episode, we sit down with a number of Music Hall board and community members to find out what’s up.
