Kristen Hammond is a pre-licensed clinical psychotherapist specializing in trauma. She says, “As a clinician, I take note of and work with the whole person-mind, body, and soul.”
She is the self-dubbed Trauma Queen because she just loves helping clients work through their traumatic experiences. She knows that research shows trauma is stored in the body, so in addition to helping people talk through things, she also integrates somatic or body-oriented therapies.
What is an example of a non-traditional somatic therapy she uses? Well, her “master’s dissertation is an in depth study of how recreational pole dancing could act as an adjunctive activity to therapy, helping to both explore and counteract the physical effects of trauma.”
Yeah, obviously this a fun conversation. Check it out!
