I first encountered Lauren Duca’s work as many people did: when she went viral for a Teen Vogue column about Trump’s gaslighting of America and for an entertaining tete a tete with Tucker Carlson.
Since then she’s catapulted into national notoriety and been felt the unique experience of being an incredibly public Woman On the Internet.
She’s also split from her husband and come out as a lesbian. And in some ways, she owes it to the election of Trump… More about that in the episode.
Her new book How to Start a Revolution: Young People and the Future of American Politics was a response to the encroaching authoritarianism and regressive values of the Trump administration. We chat about the book, activism among young people, her meteoric rise onto the scene in journalism, her emerging sexuality, and the realities of being a young woman in news in 2019.
